Our Government Relations practice continues an 80-year tradition of helping clients navigate Washington’s complex regulatory, policy and legislative avenues. Tommy “the Cork” Corcoran, one of the founders of BCR, was a long-time aide to President Franklin Roosevelt who brought his years of White House experience to BCR to advise our first clients. Today, our attorneys use their years of experience working in and with the Executive and Legislative branches of the federal government to help our clients receive the answers and obtain the solutions they need in Washington DC.
Building upon BCR’s expertise in Export Controls, Sanctions, Trade and International Law, our Government Relations team regularly engages with OFAC, the State Department, Customs, the Department of Justice, the Department of Commerce, the White House and Congress.
Oftentimes, solutions to complex problems that intersect law, politics and foreign affairs are best handled by professionals that live and work at the intersection of these three spheres. BCR’s Government Relations team have backgrounds in representing the United States, Foreign Governments, and International Organizations. These backgrounds help our Government Relations team to identify problems and find solutions to Washington-type problems.
When necessary to represent our clients’ interests, BCR attorneys also register under the Foreign Agent Registration Act and the Lobbying Disclosure Act.
